Capitol Hill

With nine historic districts and the phenomenally well-kept Governor's mansion, Capitol Hill has the most diverse housing stock in Denver. Without a doubt, the popular Capitol Hill is one of the city's most walker friendly neighborhoods and it's not just because street parking is a mix of no parking and two-hour time limits. Two parks -- Civic Center Park and Cheesman Park -- are within walking distance as is the heart of downtown. And then there's the Capitol. Politics aside, the gold plated dome representing the Colorado Gold Rush is -- especially when hit by the Colorado sun -- a blinding marvel. Although it's hard to choose the best park in Denver, Cheesman Park one-ups a few of its smaller neighbors as home of Denver Botanic Gardens. The gardens, and the fact that it's a former cemetery, either entices or bores its upscale neighbors. Park houses are beautiful and expensive, but that's not to say the park is homogeneous. It's not uncommon to run into a drum circle or verbose opinions while walking beneath Cheesman Park's neoclassical pavilion. Never a dull moment.
