Location-based marketer Roximity hiring developers

Based at Galvanize in the Golden Triangle, Roximity is the third startup from Daniel Newman and Austin Gayer.

The pair won the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon in San Francisco in Sept. 2011, leading to a deal with Ford. The 10-employee company today has "hundreds of thousands" of users, says Newman.

The company is currently looking to hire as many as five back-end and mobile developers. "We're looking for smart people who fit culturally with us," says Newman.

Roximity's platform allows for location-based marketing campaigns. Food and beverage is a key vertical for the company, with such clients as Qdoba, Kraft and Anthony's Pizza & Pasta.

"If you ever visit a Qdoba, there's a call to action to text 'Q' to 50500 for free chips and queso," explains Newman. "Then we ask if you want to share your physical location. If you do,  every week or every couple of weeks when you are near a Qdoba you get a message with an offer."

Roximity's differentiator is its scope, says Newman. "We're not an app," he says. "We're a platform. There are competitors in each piece of what we're doing but as a complete platform, nobody is doing all of the things we're doing."

The company is in the midst of finalizing an institutional funding round, after closing on a seed round in 2012.
