SendGrid eclipses 50 employees at its Denver office, could add 30 more in 2013

A graduate of 2009 TechStars Boulder, SendGrid currently has 52 employees working from its 16,000-square-foot Larimer Square offices, and could have 30 more in the city by the end of 2013.

Now with 162 total employees at the Boulder headquarters and offices in Denver and Anaheim, California, the cloud-based email delivery firm is growing at a rapid clip.

"Don't blink," says SendGrid Director of People Josh Ashton of the constantly growing number of employees. "We started the year at 100."

Ashton calls the decision to open the Denver office in Oct. 2012 "a no-brainer," as there were numerous people commuting to the downtown Boulder office that was bursting at the seams. There were initially about 20 employees in Denver. "They were delighted when it happened," says Ashton.

"If we hadn't had offices in Boulder and Denver, it would be hard to scale at this rate," adds Senior Recruiter Josh Anderson. "There is nothing not to like about it."

Ashton says the company wants to be a pillar of the Denver startup community, just as it has been in Boulder. "We want to be ambassadors and community evangelists," he says."We invite people to come down to our space, even if they're not job applicants. We're able to give back to the tech community by hosting events and meetups."
