Golden Triangle's Forkly growing, hiring two in 2012 and more in 2013

Now six employees strong, Forkly “is adding users like crazy,” says Co-Founder Brady Becker, who launched Forkly with Martin May in September 2011.

The company is currently looking for an iOS developer (“Who isn't?” asks Becker) and a web developer. He says the company will definitely add a few more heads by the end of 2013 but “it's just a matter of how many and who.”

The free Forkly app allows users to rank dishes at eating and drinking establishments, add photos and share them on social networks. The app also makes recommendations based on the likes and dislikes of users.

“Forkly is a beautiful way to share and discover dining tastes, from cheeseburgers to craft cocktails,” Becker says.

The last major iteration of the app was released for the iPhone 5 in August. An Android version is due in early 2013. Becker says the company is working on new features for restaurants that will be available via a “freemium” model.

“We're  working on some tools for the restaurants themselves, to interact with users and give them a marketing channel they haven't had before," Becker says.

Based in the Golden Triangle, Forkly is currently angel-funded, but Becker says he will pursue new investment in early 2013.

“Whether that's angel or venture has yet to be determined,” he says. “We've been featured in the App Store six times. We always see a serious bump when they feature us."
