Denver Startup Week Q&A: Pete Khanna, TrackVia

Founded in 2007, LoDo-based TrackVia provides an application platform to businesses. The hook? Users don't have to know how to code to maintain the system. The 45-employee company has been on a fast and furious growth curve recently and landed a $7.1 Series B investment in 2012. CEO Pete Khanna Pete recently spoke with Confluence as part of a series of Q&As for Denver Startup Week.

What's the big news at TrackVia?

TrackVia is growing rapidly. Our value proposition and the product we're offering has really found a niche. In the last 18 to 24 months, we've tripled our revenues, customers and employees. We brought on a lot of people in Q1. Getting them up to speed is our priority.

You can't grow a business without great employees, and there's no better place to recruit than right here in LoDo.

What do you like about Denver's startup scene?

I've been in the Denver tech world for the last 20 years, from the basement to $100 million companies, and this is the best time in Colorado for entrepreneurial activity -- not just with tech, but other industries as well. There's more substance, there are more ways to get started, and the talent pool is bigger than ever.

What are some of your favorite spots in Denver?

What makes Denver Denver is the access to the mountains. If you want to do a mountain-bike ride at lunch, you can do it.

Closer to home, The Kitchen is a staple for lunch. We get out and run on the Platte River Trail from Confluence Park.

Any other hobbies?

If I could do three things, I'd ski, golf and fish. I golf almost year-round, and I get out a lot of days at Breckenridge and Summit County. Then there's the Blue River there if I want to do a little fly-fishing.
