Tallwave, the Scottsdale-based business accelerator, has named a dozen startups as semifinalists for its first contest aimed at giving companies a boost on getting up and running.
The contest, dubbed High Tide, was designed to draw in startups to land six spots and receive up to $50,000 in grants and expense coverage to get their businesses ready for market.
Arizona business secured seven of the 12 spots, with businesses from California and Colorado also making the cut out of 100 that submitted applications.
Tallwave has been focusing on building startups in Arizona, but also has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
