Denver Startup Week Q&A: Pete Hudson, M.D., iTriage

Hudson launched iTriage with Wayne Guerra, M.D., in 2008 and sold the company to Aetna for $90 million in 2011. Now approaching 100 employees at its LoDo headquarters, iTriage is one of the pillars of the Denver startup community.

What's the big news at iTriage?

We just launched a big employer solution, where your insurance network and member benefit information are in it, for about 4,000 employers. This gives us an incredibly large footprint all at once. We'll start rolling about details about the employers over time.

What do you like about Denver's startup scene?

Things like Denver Startup Week help build a cluster of great businesses, great employees and great ideas. When you think of this corridor of technology talent, it's building all sorts of expertise and community and energy. Denver Startup Week gets the word out about it.

We should be attracting massive talent over the next 10 years. Nobody has the combination of great business opportunities and great outdoor activities.

What are some of your favorite spots in Denver?

I love all of the different restaurant choices. I love The Squeaky Bean, The Kitchen Denver and ChoLon. It's great to have that culinary creativity right nearby.

I love some of the older buildings that have been refurbished and brought to market like our building. That mix of new and old is so cool. I love walking up to the ballpark.

Any other hobbies?

I grew up skiing and ski racing. I got into telemark skiing, backcountry skiing and climbing mountains and skiing down. I usually get in 25 days at Steamboat. Now I have my kids telemark skiing. It's great family time.
